Does anyone still play the Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald gen much?
I keep re-starting my Emerald game. It's kinda fun to play through the story mode over and over... xD I send the team I play through it with to Pearl before I start over... even the HM slaves... because I get emotionally attached >w>
My current save file is a boy character named Yo (it makes NPC conversations a gigglefest--"Yo, have you gotten a Pok'emon yet?" xDD) with a Mudkip as my starter. I also have a Makuhita named Nina (x3) and an Electrike named Mercury.
I beat Wattson before I beat Brawly, which I didn't know the game would even let you do. But it was kinda fun to go back to Dewford Gym with my waaay overleveled team and kick the living daylights outta Brawly xD

Lol. Well, I have Saphire and I generally only restart it to get my mitts on the legendaries. Kyogre, Rayquaaza and Latias in particular. I have to be honest though, I never really liked the 3rd gen. There were some lousy pokes in that gen, the only good fire-type was Blaziken (ok, AND Vulpix), it was hard to train there because there just weren't any grass patches I felt 'at home' in and I didn't like the caves. Also, the only shinies I ever cought in that game were Zubats... For some weird reason. Training to lvl 100 was a drag too, it only became faster after Firered came out, which was an awesome game by comparison.
I don't particularly like Saphire's story mode, but perhaps Emerald's is better. I also don't like that 3rd and 4th gen's rivals are all so darn nice. I want nasty, mean rivals, so it'll feel good to rub their smug faces into the mud!
*ahem* Lol. ^__^

I'm going to restart my Emerald game soon because I ported most of my pokemon to Diamond which died. Now I've got a new Diamond so I've restrted Fire Red and plan to do Diamond. I'm going to start with Mudkip but I don't know what my other team members will be.

Did you manage to save your Emerald Pokes too before your Diamond died? Anyway, I don't usually plan out my team in advance either. I like surprise encounters and then going: THAT'S what I want in my team!!

Yeah, there's really been no comparison, rival-wise, to the guy from the GSC gen. He was so mean, I hated him--and it was a lot more gratifying to beat him. The rival from RSE is too nice, and hardly even a challenge (three Pok'emon for the final battle... what the hey?!).
I kinda like the rival from Diamond and Pearl though. He's so random, and fun to laugh at... and I like kicking his butt every weekend xD

I like surprise encounters and then going: THAT'S what I want in my team!! No, I didn't. I only managed to get about 6 pokes saved before it stopped letting me trade. Technically all my pokes are still there just there's nothing I can do with them. That's why I've restarted my Fire Red and Emerald, to build up my poke collection again. I've still not decided my Emerald in-game team but as for Fire Red I'm thinking Squirtle (Wartortle now), Pidgey (Pidgeotto now), Nidoran (m), Diglett and I haven't decided my last place.

NOOOOO!!! NOT DIGLETT!! Ahem, sorry... That was a random glitch in my system.
Well, I'm sorry to hear your Emerald Pokémon got stuck on you faulty Diamond game. But at least you seem rather upbeat about it.

And yeah, losing all my ingame and competitive battling pokes wasn't nice but it was the loss of the actual cartridge that was the worst. There's nothing I could do about it, and nintendo don't seem to be getting back to me so all I can do is get on with my new copy of Diamond.

If I had lost my competitive pokes from Firered, I'd be pretty upset. I was already quite peeved over losing all my pokes from Silver, losing everything AGAIN would have been a real pain.

I haven't gone through those games for a while . . . I should though. I really like the story. And I'm not concerned over the Pokemon. This generation was actually the first time I filled my Pokedex AND trained the Pokemon I caught so I had a lot of Lv. 50's in the box. I got to get to really know the Pokemon by their stats and learned their stregnth and weaknesses, which I never paid much attention to before. And I got attached to a lot of them.
I don't think I ever really finished Emerald . . . which is a shame. I should do it!

I was upset but the loss of the cartridge overshadowed the loss of my pokemon a bit. I'm over the initial anger now and atleast I have a copy of diamond to play. @ vyebrante Yeah, I'd recommend going back and doing Emerald all the way through. I'm hoping I'll enjoy it more this time because I'm going to use a whole team rather than how I used to do it. One lead pokemon and one back up. With my current diamond play through I've had a team of five that I've had to constantly balanced out in levels and moves and I've enjoyed the run more.
