A few weeks ago I realized that my favourite Pokémon ever, Scyther, can now also have the Technician ability. For those of you who don't know this, Technician will boost all attacks with a base power of 60 or less, 1,5 times.
So Aerial Ace, which has exactly 60, will become 90. But since that move is a Flying attack, and since Scyther is also a Flying type, won't a Technician Scyther get Aerial Ace with a base power of 120? That's pretty neat for a move that never misses.
Does anyone have enough knowlegde of the game mechanics to know if this is really what would happen?

Hm. I don't. I mean, I could try testing it but that probably wouldn't help. I don't know how I'd tell.
No help at all! That's me!

Well, I just checked the Smogon strategy site, and it said this move, with all this stat raises is Scyther's most powerful trick, so I guess now I know.

I tought 60 power + technician is 90, + STAB (same type attack bonus) that is 90+45=135.

I'm not sure if the STAB stacks on top of the ability boost, or if it only applies to the move's base power. Either way, it's still a strong boost. Welcome to the forum, btw.

That would be hard to calcuate. I guess you could get two Scyther, one with the ability and one without and see how they do. But it'd be hard to really test it because they would still have different stats and if you attacked two different Pokemon to test it, those Pokemon's stats would be different as well.
You could at least get an idea. Where I have the ability to make Scyther's appear, I suppose I could just test it instead of suggesting it . . .

I think it should probably be on a Pokémon Strategy Site, such as Smogon. But thanks anyway.
