Rick Sparks is one of those new age musicians who knows how to create exceptional moods and feelings by combining piano and synthesizer sounds. He goes in for the traditional new age regimen of soft-and-slow. The nice piano melodies are bolstered by the synthesizer creating either the string section from a symphony orchestra or the sounds of an ethereal female choir singing wordlessly. Then occasionally a switch is flipped on the synth and it is reproducing musical accents from instrumentation such as flute, violin or chimes. Apparently Sparks is a lover of all things Brit, which he used for general inspiration (although on one instrumental piece he strays to Japan for inspiration and on another he heads to the Scottish highlands).
