This has to be my favorite manga, or at least in my top three. For anyone who doesn't know (I pity you! ), it's about a kid who wants to become "King of the Pirates." He's a great fighter, thanks to the rubber powers he acquired by eating a devil fruit... but he can't do much else that a pirate would need to, including swim (he becomes powerless in the water) or navigate on the ocean (or on land, for that matter...). At the beginning of the story, he doesn't even have a ship--just a rowboat (and not even that, for very long!). I have up to volume 17, need to get 18 (it just came out! ). I'm also missing 7, which I could swear I've bought twice, but has disappeared both times >.>

I just re-read One Piece! And bought volumes 15 and 16 recently too. I stopped buying them for a while hoping a could buy a whole bunch at once, only to find out that I didn't wait long enough and only up through 18 is out. Darn it! Oh well. Might as well get them too.
Luffy is hilarious and I love him, but I think I like Zolo a little better. I really like Sanji too. I've probably read Sanji's story more times out of any of them. I love his relationship to Zeff! They act like they hate each other, but have a cool father and son type bond.
It was funny. I come to this One Piece thread and the ad at the top is for the uncut One Piece DVD. But maybe they pick their ads by whatever is in the forum text . . . I so need to get that DVD though.

My brother started buying volumes of One Piece, so I picked up on it and read them too. Well, technically I bought them FOR him, because I often swing by the comic store in Utrecht, where I go to college. We don't have a comic store in our hometown. And I really like One Piece too, though I have to admit I find their whole honor system a little macho. Like, with what happened to those two giants. I was like this all the time >> 0_o 'But WHY do they want to bash each other's skulls in??' Perhaps it just has something to do with the Japanese culture, or something. But other than that, it's really funny, right down to being absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah, I think it's a cultural thing... and I remember the other characters (especially Nami) getting annoyed with the giants too I want to punch Zoro occasionally for being so macho--doesn't stop him from being my favorite character, though x3

The Giants actually explained that. They had a disagreement, and their society believes that their gods will defend whoever is right and enable them to win. Duking it out was how they were going to resolve their argument.
Made sense to me anyways . . . They're a warrior race at any rate.

I need to collect my issues of Jump that are scattered all over the house so I can re-read that arc >.>

Yeah, they did explain it... But it still made no sense to me. I guess I just wasn't meant to live in a macho world. Lol.

I would probably be dead if I had been born in the One Piece world. xD
Or maybe it would have toughened me up and I'd be a bad-axe pirate chick.
Either way, I'd probably be willing to die young to live there. Getting to actually meet Zoro in real life? Heck yes. *fan-girlish squeal*

Erm... Not me. Did you see the funky lay-out of that world? It's divided into four parts, by some sort of wall. That means the ocean and air currents we know on Earth, simply don't exist there. That means they don't have our nice temperate climate, but that most of their world is either a desert or an ice land. Only the bits of land near the coastline will be green. No thanks, not me. Lol

I just wouldn't want to live in the extreme weather places like Alabastia (not checking my spelling still) or the Drum Kingdom. Too hot or too cold isn't good. And all the pirates roaming around would be scary. And all the choas with the government would be worrisome too.
So guess it's hard to say. At least it'd be interesting.

Yeah, a quick visit perhaps, but I wouldn't want to live there. Say... For someone who wants to be a pirate, doesn't Luffy realize most pirates spend their time pillaging and plundering? Something he doesn't seem to be interested in.
Kinda weird...

Yeah. They don't seem to do any actual pirating, and yet they have huge bounties on their heads. It seems to be mostly because they call themselves pirates and do stuff to tick off the Navy. (Other than, you know, illegal things.)
I guess Luffy does walk out on a food bill now and then, but rarely.

Aah topic that i find cool. Yea i also like One Piece. Its the action and the characters that i really like in the manga. My favorite characters are: Capt. Usopp because he is the weakest of them all but he can fight if he haves 2. And my other fav. char. is Roronoa Zolo, because he kicks ass he is way stronger then Sanjii ! ( because he has 3 SWORDS !!!!)
